Basic Hand Strikes
Lunge Punch: Retracted hand is tucked under arm, against ribs. Striking arm extends straight forward, and stops when before the arm becomes straight. The fist starts with the knuckles facing upward, and it turns over just as the fist makes contact, or as the technique is finished. The wrist is perfectly straight. (Failure to have wrist perfectly straight will result in injury when making contact.)Double Punch: This implies that two lunge punches are delivered one after the other, from one position. When delivering a double punch, be sure to completely retract the retracted hand for each punch.
Triple Punch: A triple punch is a sequence of three lunge punches. The first punch is high (head / neck area). The second is to the middle (chest / solar plexus area). And the third is low (stomach / groin area).
Double Fist Punch: Both hands deliver a lunge punch at the same time. This punch is directed toward the chest.
Vertical Punch: Retracted hand is tucked under arm, against ribs. Striking arm extends straight forward, and stops when before the arm becomes straight. The fist starts with the knuckles facing upward, and turns as the arm is extended until it is vertical (the thumb side is up). The bottom knuckle makes contact first, and just as it does the top knuckle is thrust in.
Rekan: Striking hand comes up in front, just below chin level (back of hand facing out). Next the hand jets out, the back of the knuckles are striking, and then the hand is immediately retracted.
Chicken Neck (Bent Wrist Strike): Fingers and thumb come together, and wrist is bent to the fullest. The strike is done with the joint of the forearm and the hand. The hand can be brought to the opposite side of the neck, and then down to strike. It can also be brought under the other side's arm, and then straight out to strike. And it can also be brought to the opposite hip, and then up toward the face to strike.
Palm Heel Strike: Tuck all fingers in, and punch the palm of your hand out. Thrust this hand out as to deliver a punch, but strike with the base out your palm instead.
